User group meeting about National Broadcasting

The Norwegian Topic Maps User Group is arranging a meeting about the Norwegian National Broadcasting application on March 2 at Bouvet’s offices in Oslo. The presentation will present

  • the application,
  • the ontology behind it,
  • challenges with using the ontology,
  • how it is connected to the national curriculum (also in Topic Maps),
  • how synchronization with the curriculum topic map works, and
  • ideas for future extensions.

XML Prague 2010

The program for XML Prague 2010 has been announced, with one Topic Maps presentation by Benjamin Bock. The conference is held 13-14 March at the Mala Strana University Campus in Prague.

XATA 2010

The XATA 2010 conference on XML and related technologies will be held 19 to 20 May 2010 in Vila do Conde, Portugal. A call for papers is out, asking for contributions on Topic Maps among other subjects.

Topic Maps 2010 – Call for Presentations

The Fourth International Topic Maps Users Conference takes place on April 14-15 2010, at Felix Conference Centre, Oslo, Norway. The first day will be tutorials, the second the conference itself. The actual call for papers can be found on the conference site.

(Personally, I’m happy to see the conference is now in April rather than March, which means the weather is likely to be a lot more pleasant for international visitors.)

The keynote speaker, Michael Sperberg-McQueen, has written a short note on his blog, with a link to a longer message posted to the TopicMapsInLIS mailing list. He has also written further postings about Topic Maps on his blog after that initial posting.

Dmitry Bogachev has blogged about his open-space presentation, called Paraconsistent Reasoning in Ontopedia.

The German Ministry for Research and Education (BMBF) has published an article about TMRA 2009, titledWhere goes the future of the Internet?. It’s in German.

Nexxor published a summary of their experiences at TMRA, called Wrap-up of TMRA 2009.

Topic Maps Japan 2010

The Topic Maps Japan 2010 conference will be held on January 22, 2010 at the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo by the Japan Topic Maps Group. They are soliciting international contributions.

Topic Maps 2010, the Fourth International Topic Maps Conference, is being held in Oslo on April 14-15 2010, with one day of tutorials before the conference. The call for contributions is out, so if you want to present something or sponsor the conference, now is the time to start getting ready.

What’s up at TMRA 2009

If you can’t come to TMRA this year it’s still possible to follow what is going on. A number of the people attending the conference are using Twitter, and lots and lots of tweets about the conference are being posted. These can be found using the hashtag #tmra (using Twitter Search. In fact, at the conference there is a screen showing the stream of tweets live using TwitterWallr.
