On January 1st cfengine.org released version 3 of cfengine, an ongoing research project, looking into distributed system administration. Version 2 is currently running on an estimated several hundred thousand nodes around the world.
The new version contains a Topic Maps engine:
Cfengine 3’s upcoming solutions will integrate knowledge management of cfengine and its operational environment with actual configuration language based on promises. A new component in the cfengine repertoire “cfKnow” will compile knowledge-promises into formats that will form the basis of integrated monitoring console suitable for huge numbers of hosts.
